In the fourth quarter of 2022, the top 5 communication apps in Madagascar, as tracked by Sensor Tower, showed diverse performance trends in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a solid presence with weekly downloads peaking at around 12.6K in the week of October 31. However, downloads saw a decline towards the end of the quarter, reaching approximately 6.5K in mid-December before rising to 8.7K in the final week. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around the 2.5M mark throughout the quarter.

Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. experienced consistent weekly revenue of around $3, with a slight dip to $2 in early December. Downloads showed a varied trend, starting at 9.3K in late September, dipping to 7.8K in mid-December, and peaking at 10.8K in the last week of December. Active users steadily increased from 413K to approximately 452K by the end of the quarter.

Snapchat saw a mix of trends with its weekly revenue experiencing minimal fluctuations, ranging from $6 to $18. Downloads varied significantly, starting at 5.9K in late September, dipping to 4.3K in mid-November, and spiking to 10.1K in the last week of December. Active users increased from 66.7K to 91.7K over the quarter.

Opera Mini: Fast Web Browser showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at 1.4K in late September and reaching over 2K by the end of December. Active users fluctuated slightly but generally increased from 24.7K to 28.1K throughout the quarter.

Telegram had weekly revenue ranging from $4 to $12, with the highest revenue recorded in late November. Downloads saw a decline from around 2.4K in late September to approximately 1.8K in mid-December, before a slight rise to 2K in the last week of December. Active users showed a gradual increase from 94.9K to 108.5K over the quarter.
